Carbon Credits

Carbon Credits directly fund climate solutions that actively reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.

Credit Standards

Credit standards are global benchmarks for rigorous third-party monitoring, reporting and verification procedures which provide infrastructure to issue, trace, transfer and retire Carbon Credits. Each standard provides evidence of ownership and prevents double counting. More Trees currently trades with credits verified by UNFCCC CDM Certified Emissions Reductions (CER), Gold Standard Verified Emission Reductions (VER) and Verra VCS Voluntary Carbon Unit (VCU).

Platform Update

We have temporarily paused selling carbon credits through More Trees due to exciting ongoing new developments focusing on our tree-planting efforts. However, our parent company, THG Eco, operates a carbon trading desk and would be happy to assist you in purchasing carbon credits to offset your emissions. Please get in touch at eco@thehutgroup.com.

What is Carbon Offsetting?

Greenhouse gas emissions that cannot be reduced or avoided directly can be 'offset' through the purchase of Carbon Credits. Carbon Credits are created through global projects that remove or reduce greenhouse gases. For example, projects investing in renewable energy production or ecosystem restoration.

Tree Planting vs. Carbon Offsetting

Tree Planting

Tree planting is an element of climate action that restores and develops ecosystems impacted by deforestation, while also helping absorb CO2 emissions in the future.

Carbon Offsetting

Carbon offsetting is the reduction, avoidance or removal of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, to compensate for emissions made elsewhere. Importantly, the reduction/removal has already happened at the point of offsetting. Project examples include renewable energy, cookstoves, afforestation and reforestation.
